Exploring Magic Cards
The Card Explorer is your gateway to browsing and discovering Magic: The Gathering cards. Access it from the home page to search through thousands of cards with powerful filtering options.
Searching Cards
Use the search bar to find cards by name or type. The search supports different modes:
Finds cards containing your search term anywhere in the name
Finds cards whose names begin with your search term
Finds cards whose names end with your search term
Finds cards with names that exactly match your search term
Filters & Sorting
Use the sidebar filters to narrow down your search results:
Color Filters
Filter by mana colors including multicolor and colorless options
Mana Cost (CMC)
Filter cards by their converted mana cost using a range slider (0-16+)
Rarity
Filter by card rarity levels
Sets
Filter cards from specific Magic sets or expansions
Format Legality
Show only cards legal in specific formats
Pro Tip
You can combine multiple filters to create very specific searches. For example, search for "Red creatures with CMC 3-5 that are Modern legal."

Creating Decks
Deck Types
Choose between two deck types:
For physical Magic cards and tournaments. Tracks your actual card collection.
For MTG Arena and digital play. No collection tracking needed.

Creating a New Deck
Navigate to Deck Builder
Go to Decks → Paper/Arena → "Add Deck"
Fill Deck Details
Enter name, format, description, and optional image URL
Import or Build Decklist
Paste a decklist or start with an empty deck
Decklist Import Format
Import decklists using the standard Magic format:
4 Lightning Bolt (M11) 4 Monastery Swiftspear (KTK) 3 Eidolon of the Great Revel (JOU) 2 Goblin Guide (ZEN) Sideboard 2 Smash to Smithereens (SHM) 3 Kor Firewalker (WWK)
• Format: Quantity CardName (SetCode) CollectorNumber
• Set code and collector number are optional
• Use "Sideboard" to separate sideboard cards
• Empty lines are ignored

Adding Cards to Decks
Multiple ways to add cards to your decks:
Use the "Add Card" button in deck view to search and add individual cards
Add cards directly from search results using the card modal
Replace entire deck contents by importing a new decklist
Deck Sections
Organize cards across three sections:
Your primary 60+ card deck for gameplay
Up to 15 cards for post-game adjustments
Cards you're considering for the deck

Drag cards or use context menu to move between maindeck/sideboard
Remove Cards
Reduce quantity to 0 to remove cards from deck

Importing Decks
Import existing decklists from other platforms or deck databases:
Supported Import Sources
Import Process
• Include set codes when possible for accurate card matching
• Check for typos if cards aren't found during import
• Use the "Import" button in deck edit mode to replace existing cards
Deck Validation
The deck builder automatically validates your decks against format rules and displays warnings for any issues.
Validation Rules
Checks if all cards are legal in the selected format (Standard, Modern, etc.)
Mainboard: Minimum 60 cards • Sideboard: Maximum 15 cards
Maximum 4 copies of any card (except basic lands)
Validation Alerts
Validation errors appear as floating alerts at the bottom of the deck view:
- • Lightning Bolt is not legal in Standard
- • Mainboard has 58 cards (minimum 60 allowed)
Rotation Checker
Stay ahead of Standard rotation with built-in rotation tracking that shows when your cards will rotate out.

Cards that won't rotate for over a year
Cards rotating within the next year
Cards rotating within 90 days
Cards with unknown rotation dates
Rotation Summary
View rotation status directly on your deck page:
Detailed Rotation View
Click the rotation summary to see detailed rotation information for each card, grouped by rotation date.

Managing Your Wishlists
Create and manage wishlists to track cards you want to buy or trade for. Organize your wants by theme, deck, or priority to make collecting more efficient.
Creating Wishlists
Manual Wishlist Creation
Create custom wishlists for any purpose:
Navigate to Wishlists
Go to Wishlists → "New Wishlist"
Fill Wishlist Details
Enter name, select colors, and add optional cover image
Start Adding Cards
Use the "Add Card" button to search and add cards
Wishlist from Missing Cards
Automatically create wishlists from deck needs:
1. Open any deck in your collection
2. Click "Missing Cards" to see what you don't own
3. Use "Create Wishlist" to automatically generate a wishlist
4. The wishlist will be linked to the original deck
Wishlist Properties
Give your wishlist a descriptive name and select mana colors for organization
Set a custom image URL or use any card from the wishlist as cover

Wishlists automatically track current market prices to help you budget and prioritize purchases.
Price Information
Each card shows its current market price in EUR from Cardmarket
Wishlist header shows total cost (quantity × price for all cards)

Price information is shown in multiple places:
Acquisition Tracking
Track your progress acquiring wishlist cards:
• Enable "Show Tracked Counters" to track acquisition progress
• Set how many copies you've acquired vs. how many you want
• Progress is saved locally and persists between sessions
• Use "Reset Counters" to clear all tracking data
Linking to Decks
Connect wishlists to your decks to track missing cards and streamline deck building.
Automatic Deck Linking
When you create a wishlist from missing deck cards, it's automatically linked:
Missing Cards Workflow
1. Open any deck and click "Missing Cards"
2. Review cards you don't own from the deck
3. Click "Create Wishlist" to generate linked wishlist
4. Wishlist automatically named "Missing - [Deck Name]"
Linked Wishlist Benefits
• Shows "From deck:" link back to original deck
• Appears in deck's wishlist section
• Helps track deck completion progress
• Maintains connection for easy navigation

Multiple Wishlists per Deck
Create multiple wishlists for the same deck to organize different priorities:
• Missing cards (essential for deck function)
• Upgrades (better versions of current cards)
• Sideboard options (meta-dependent choices)
• Foil versions (cosmetic upgrades)
Wishlist Merging
Combine multiple wishlists to consolidate your wants:
• Select multiple wishlists from the main wishlists page
• Use "Merge Selected" to combine them into one
• Duplicate cards have quantities combined
• Colors and prices are automatically recalculated
• Original wishlists can be kept or deleted
